There is no mobile phone coverage in Bedourie. There are public phones available at the Bedourie Visitors Centre,  Simpson Desert Oasis Roadhouse and across from the Royal Hotel.

Is the tap water drinkable?

Yes. Our water comes from the Artesian Bore and is safe to drink. If you need to fill your jerry cans and caravan/RV tanks, then you can use the taps located at the Simpson Desert Oasis Roadhouse.

Where can I get a meal or a great coffee?

The Simpson Desert Oasis Roadhouse offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week.  Lunch and dinner is also available at the Royal Hotel.

Yes. Wi-Fi is available from the Simpson Desert Oasis Roadhouse or the Bedourie Visitors Centre.

No. There is no pharmacy in Bedourie, so please make sure you bring an adequate supply of medication with you.

How do I get there?

Rex Airlines fly into Bedourie from Brisbane on Mondays and Thursdays, and from Mt Isa on Tuesdays and Fridays. Driving from the North: We are located 195 km South of Boulia. There is roughly 10 km of unsealed road. Driving from the East: we are 384 km west of Windorah, and approximately 280 km is an unsealed road. Windorah is the last fuel stop before Bedourie.  From the South: we are 186k m North of Birdsville, and there is approximately 60 km of unsealed road. Check the latest updates on road conditions before travelling.

What accommodation is available?

The Simpson Desert Oasis Roadhouse has motel style units as well as camping facilities.  The Royal Hotel offers Hotel rooms. Alternatively, the Diamantina Shire Council offers powered or unpowered sites at the Bedourie caravan park.  Information is available at the Bedourie Visitors Centre.

What activities are available in Bedourie?

Just a few suggestions for you!  You can take a dip in the Aquatic Centre and Hot Artesian Spa, or have a hit of golf on Bedourie’s Outback Golf Course (clubs available for hire from the Bedourie Visitors Centre), or go for a bike ride around the levee (bikes available for hire at the Bedourie Visitors Centre).  See our attractions page for more information.

Amenities

The public toilets are located next to the Bedourie Community Centre and you can take a shower at the Diamantina Shire Caravan Park.  A small fee is required to use the facilities.  Details available at the Bedourie Visitors Centre.
