Birdsville Carnival

The Birdsville Carnival returns on 8–9 July 2026 with two fun-filled days of outback entertainment, live music, comedy, culture and community spirit in one of Australia's most iconic destinations.

A highlight of this year's program is five-time Golden Guitar winner Pete Denahy, bringing his trademark blend of music, comedy and bush storytelling to Coffees, Toasties & Yarns around the campfire.

Families and visitors of all ages will love the energy and laughter of the Crackup Sisters, with daily Good Morning Birdsville sessions led by Ms LiLi, plus interactive whip-cracking and hula hoop workshops throughout the Carnival.

Live music is at the heart of the Carnival, with Mick Lindsay performing throughout the event alongside a fun program of comedy, music, storytelling and hands-on outback experiences.

The program also features a range of quirky outback events including the Birdsville Tractor Pull and Australia's Richest Camel Steeplechase, where competitors race wearing camel masks for prizes and bragging rights.

Take time to explore beyond the program—soar above the Channel Country on a scenic flight, experience the magic of Big Red, or enjoy a famous camel pie from the Birdsville Bakery.

Visitors can also discover Birdsville's rich history through the Birdsville – The Black Book exhibition at the Wirrarri Visitor Information Centre and explore the Birdsville Courthouse Police Complex & Aboriginal Tracker's Hut Museum, both open throughout the Carnival.
